School Consumer Clubs
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India has introduced a scheme titled, “School Consumer Club” in the year 2005-06. Under this scheme, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India grants financial aid for implementation of the scheme.
The main objective of the Consumer Club is to educate school children about consumer rights as provided in the Consumer Protection act, 1986; to mobilise youngsters by instilling in them the spirit of consumer protection; to impart knowledge about the role of consumers in protection of their rights and to strengthen the consumer movement in the State.
Accordingly, the Department set up fifty (50) School Consumer Clubs in various Government Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools in the year 2006 and granted financial aid for conducting consumer awareness activities at the school level.
The Department has recently in September, 2018??(Titus Sir, pl elaborate) reconstituted School Consumer Clubs in 60 Government Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools.
