Computerization of  Targeted Public Distribution (TPDS) Operations  has been taken up across the country with the objective of addressing various challenges  of the Public Distribution System such as leakages and diversion of foodgrains, fake and bogus ration cards, lack of transparency, weak grievances redressal and social audit mechanisms.

The key activities and the expected outcomes under Component – I of the scheme are as under:-

  1. Digitization of beneficiary data base

The digitization and de-duplication process using Aadhaar Seeding has helped in weeding out of many duplicate/ineligible beneficiaries thus enabling correct identification of beneficiaries, removal of bogus cards and better targeting of food subsides.

System generated allocation of foodgrains has been started by the department

The two FCI food godowns at Jorethang and Rangpo along with 27 State Food Godowns have been provided with computers and accessories. Alternative arrangement for internet connectivity like leased lines, data card, broadband etc. have been provided. Technical manpower has been put in place to facilitate timely availability of food grains to intended beneficiaries at FPS and monitor leakages and diversion.
