END -TO - END COMPUTERISATION OF TPDS OPERATIONS IN THE STATE OF SIKKIM

Computerization of  Targeted Public Distribution (TPDS) Operations  has been taken up across the country with the objective of addressing various challenges  of the Public Distribution System such as leakages and diversion of foodgrains, fake and bogus ration cards, lack of transparency, weak grievances redressal and social audit mechanisms.

The key activities and the expected outcomes under Component – I of the scheme are as under:-

  1. Digitization of beneficiary data base

A total of 1,50,228 Ration Cards have been digitized and issued to 16500 AAY households, 79937 PHH, 95 OPHH (Spl), 37320 OPHH (General) and 16376 NPH. The digitization and de-duplication process using Aadhaar Seeding has helped in weeding out of many duplicate/ineligible beneficiaries thus enabling correct identification of beneficiaries, removal of bogus cards and better targeting of food subsides.

  1. Computerization of Supply Chain Management

The two FCI food godowns at Jorethang and Rangpo along with 27 State Food Godowns have been provided with computers and accessories. Alternative arrangement for internet connectivity like leased lines, data card, broadband etc. have been provided. Technical manpower has been put in place to facilitate timely availability of food grains to intended beneficiaries at FPS and monitor leakages and diversion.

  1. Setting up of Transparency Portal

The relevant information on TPDS has been made available in public domain through the transparency portal http://pdsportal.nic.in thereby introducing transparency and public accountability.

  1. Grievance Redressal Mechanism

District Grievance Redressal Officers have been appointed; online  Grievance Redressal Mechanism has been set up, grievance portal and PDS toll free helpline number has been put in place.
