As per directives of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distributions State PMC Collects prevailing of Whole sale and Retail market price of 23 essential commodities from Gangtok Center and disseminates the same to the Ministry by 2 pm everyday. Information of rates collected and disseminated by the States are checked and monitored by the highest officer i.e the PMO.
Rates are collected as per guidelines of PMC i.e High Income Group, Middle Income Group and Low Income Group from designated whole sellers and Retailers of the market.
PMC is established with the aim and objective of monitoring of Whole sale and Retail market price of 23 essential commodities notified by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Government of India which are as under:

Price Collection of Whole Sale and Retail Sale price of 23 essential commodities is done twice a week i.e. on Tuesday and Friday by the Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) or Field Staff and suspervised by the PMC - Inspector, Member secretary and Joint Director (PDS).
